Course Requirements
The grids for Specialized Designations in mechanical and collision repair outline the required topics. Below each topic are bulleted learning objectives that must be included in the course material. For example, if you currently teach or offer a benchmarking course for collision repair, the material must cover job costing, shop efficiency, establishing your labor rate, how to determine your gross profit on parts, and how to determine your gross profit per hour. Course length is not a requirement.
Courses must be available to students in both instructor-led and self-study formats. Instructors will enter a 50/50 revenue sharing agreement on approved self-study courses sold by AMI.
Existing courses may be modified to meet the new Specialized Designation requirements. Modifications may be as simple as developing and adding a post-course exam.
Tests will be distributed with student workbooks for both instructor-led and self-study courses. Classroom time will not be used for testing. It will be the student's responsibility to complete and return the test with the required $20 per test fee.
